Maths in reception

Number Bonds

The children have been learning "number bonds". They are simply the pairs of numbers that make up  a given number.

We were challenged to find the missing number in number bonds to 10.
For example 3+?=10, 8+?=10

We have also been learning doubles.

Penguin fun in Reception!

Penguins!

The children have thoroughly enjoyed our topic on penguins and we have been delighted with all the children have learnt.

The story, "Lost and Found" was a great starting point for our penguin theme.

The children produced some fabulous written work linked to where they would like to go an adventure with the penguin.

In Caterpillar Class they also used the story to focus on what makes a good friend.

We have produced some fabulous penguin inspired art work!

We have been so impressed with all of the children's penguin homework and thank you for all of your support at home.

On Friday we celebrated the end of our penguin topic by having a,"Penguin Day!" The children all looked fantastic in their penguin outfits.

The money raised from the children dressing up has gone towards paying for the adoption of a penguin! Our penguin lives on the Adelie Land near Antarctica.
We chose the name Snowflake for our penguin.

We enjoyed dancing along to the "Penguin Bop" with the Boogie Beebies.

We worked together in teams to write facts about all we had learnt about penguins.

It really has been a great penguin inspired two weeks and we thank you for all of your continued support at home.
