Reception week beginning 26.06.17

This week we will be reflecting on our year in Reception and what we have learnt and our favourite memories.

Literacy Focus: - This week we will be writing about our memories of our Reception Year in school and what we have learnt and enjoyed doing.
Phonics Focus: - This week during early morning work we will be revisiting digraphs and trigraphs from the Letters and Sounds Programme. Next week (week beginning 03.07.17) we will have a final assessment to find out the letter sounds which the children know confidently at speed. Don't forget you can revisit the sounds on the Mr Thorne Does Phonics website http://mrthorne.com/
Maths Focus: - This week we will be revisiting money and the children will be identifying coins and using them to make amounts to 10p / 20p. We will also have a shop in the classroom and the children will be encouraged to find the total cost of two items.

Reception week beginning 19.06.17

This week's focus will be the story of ......

"The Crunching Munching Caterpillar"

Literacy Focus: - The children will be identifying and discussing main characters and events from the story. They will also be writing about the story during focus writing tasks.
The children will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly and will be encouraged to sequence and describe each stage of the life cycle.
Maths Focus: - This week we will revisit shape and we will encourage the children to identify and name common 2D and 3D shapes and use mathematical terms to describe them.

This week in Caterpillar Class:-
Linked to, "The Crunching Munching Caterpillar" story we have been busy making butterflies (which we also use for our class assembly)

We carefully patterned butterflies at the Writing Area Table.

On Friday CRIBs told us the story of, "The Prodigal Son" and we learnt why we should say sorry for things which we have done which are wrong.

This week we sorted and named 3D shapes.

A square based pyramid and triangle based pyramid.

We enjoyed using construction materials to make 3D shapes.

This week in Ladybird Class:

The children have been very busy, preparing for our first class assembly, this week.

Vivienne has been supporting us with learning new songs throughout the week – here the children have made her into Queen Vivienne by making her a crown, chains and a special bracelet.  Thank you Vivienne; for getting us singing together!

We are enjoying being in the big playground and have written about it.

I like the swing thing.

I like to go on the spider webb.  I like to paly

We have continued to practice our Sports Day skills.

Great balancking Kamil.

#
We even had a go at ‘hat on’ and ‘pick up the bucket’ race – tricky, but we managed it.

We worked on 2D (flat) shape names and their features and 3D (fat) shape names.  We sorted the shapes into 2D and 3D

Lovely 2D and 3D model.

Good sorting of objects.

Charlie W is sorting 3D shapes.

Lila sorted the 3D shapes to match the word mat and then took a picture of it using the ipad.

Chloe W has taken a picture of her friend taking a picture of someone using an ipad – ‘Look your picture is on my ipad – ha ha.’

We are thinking about our upcoming beach trip and dressing up in the role-play area.

Wow Albie! I wonder what you can see under water?

Emily and Albie are making a butterfly symmetry picture.
Painting our symmetry butterfies.

Charlie & Teddy working together.

Jacob is on the phone booking his holiday!

Chilling out in our beach area!

Thank you to all the adults who came to support the children in their first every class assembly.
The children all had a great time performing it and I am very proud of all they have achieved.

Growing UP!
