Having a whale of a time!

We can't wait to go to the seaside on Friday! We have been doing some fantastic imaginative writing this week about our senses at the seaside. We have thought about what we might see, hear, smell and taste.

Here is a picture of Jack and Lola-Rose in our new seaside role play area!

We have been learning to hear sounds at the beginning of words!

We have been learning to hear sounds at the beginning of words. We enjoyed playing a sound game on the carpet. We were all given an object and then we had to decide whether it began with the sound c, b, m and r.
c for cup

m for milk

b for bumble bee

We played a sound matching game on the interactive whiteboard. You can play it at home if you visit the website crickweb.co.uk/Earlyyears
c is for cat

Sharing A Shell

This week at nursery we will be busy Bumble Bees completing lots of learning activities based around the story, "Sharing A Shell" by Julia Donaldson.

On Monday we enjoyed listening to the story. We liked the sparkly pictures in the story!

We drew our own pictures of the story on large paper using oil pastels.
The friends are playing together.

The crab wouldn't share.

We enjoyed making the characters from the story using play dough.

I've made Blob!

I've made an octopus! It has 9 tentacles.

I've made a crab!

We made crabs. We folded paper to make the crabs wriggly legs!

Isaac found a crab in our sand tray!

Madison and Tohan worked together at the easel to paint this beautiful mermaid picture.

The Rainbow Fish

We really enjoyed reading the story 'The Rainbow Fish'.

We produced some excellent descriptive writing about our own rainbow fish which we also made ourselves.

We also worked together as a class to agree on what makes a good friend. Here is what we came up with...

We've really enjoyed learning all about water and under the sea in the lead up to our beach trip next week!

Shape.

This week at nursery we will be learning about 2d and 3d shapes.

On the carpet we helped Sue and Karen to magic flat 2d shapes into fat 3d shapes!
Abracadabra!

We sorted fat 3d shapes into cones, spheres, cubes and cuboids.

A cone, cuboid, cube and sphere.

We talked about real objects which are fat 3d shapes.
That's not a square it's a fat cube. A square is a flat shape.

This is a cone.

A cone is like a party hat!

We enjoyed playing with the shapes in the Water tray!

We printed shapes in the Messy Area.

We enjoyed making models using the wooden bricks.

We're making an Elsa castle.

Forest School Teddy Bear's Picnic

The children brought some special friends to Forest School for a teddy bear's picnic.

George's bear had fun in the digging pit (even if he did get a bit mucky!)

We made some delicious cakes.

Bagpuss enjoyed his muffin.

Here's Harry, showing his bear how to move a stick safely around Forest School.

Tohan made a camp fire. She found some red and brown leaves to represent the flames.

Taylor and Raphael used the binoculars to look for birds.

The den is a great spot to relax.

How many different teddies can you spot at base camp?

Ladybird's Outdoor Week

We have had so much fun this week!

We started off the week doing some fantastic outdoor activities with Ben Bullen. We played games, working together as a team and even made our own perfume from natural objects we found.

We also got to try archery. We learnt how to hold the bow and arrow first of all. Then we took our best shot! We had to really concentrate. We had so much fun!

Great shot Mrs Johnson!

All week, we've had the musical instruments outside. Ivie practiced a song on the guitar and wanted to perform it for everyone.

On Thursday, Alex came to teach us how to do some circus tricks! First, he put on a little show and then we got to try the tricks ourselves! We got to juggle with balls and scarves, spinning plates, play with flower sticks and stilts. The list is endless!

Here are some videos of us performing some tricks...

On Thursday afternoon, we had our Teddy bear picnic. We started off by doing a parade around the playground. We all got to show off our special friends to each other!

We played some games and did some dancing! We definitely deserved a biscuit and a drink after all that hard work!

We thought you would like to see pictures of us with our lovely bears...

We have learnt so much this week but more importantly, we've had so much fun! :-)
